New at El Portal Sedona Hotel is the “Upstairs Gallery” featuring artwork of local artist Dawn Sutherland Fine Art. As you take the rough-hewn plank stairs with beam ceilings to the upper floor you will see the new Upstairs Gallery. With adobe wall on one side and open natural brick on the other, the hallway makes a beautiful backdrop for her plein air paintings. Dawn Sutherland has been painting Sedona and the surrounding countryside since 2003.
Dawn began painting in Wisconsin, but really fell in love with the beauty of the American Southwest. She is active in plein air painting groups, and when not painting in the studio can usually be found outdoors capturing first-hand the beauty of the desert, mountains, and especially the Grand Canyon. Dawn loves to paint animals as well – perfect for this pet friendly Sedona hotel!
