Going beyond the ordinary, the architecture and adobe construction of El Portal is completely authentic. Nowhere else in Sedona will you find a luxury inn or hotel with 18-inch thick adobe walls— walls that provide both quiet and history. It's truly an architectural masterpiece.

Painstakingly, the finest builders of today have created this extraordinarily beautiful hacienda with a traditional center courtyard and fountain. And they have done it accurately, just as it was done centuries ago.

All work was performed by hand and eye, as in the original manner. As a result, the subtle, inviting sense of culture forms a wonderful link to the spirit of the past. Just as carefully, building materials were taken from nature wherever possible. This, too, forms a spiritual connection, a blending, if you will, with the earth. Watch magnificent sunrises through some of our windows framed in recycled 200-year-old wood.
