Innkeepers, Steve and Connie Segner
It was Steve and Connie’s dream to build this extraordinary inn. They spent years collecting the antiques that grace El Portal’s rooms, and Steve himself built many of the wooden doors and light fixtures.
You’ll speak with Connie when you reserve your rooms, and she manages the inn’s office, among dozens of other daily duties. If you have any special booking requests she’ll be happy to help you any way she can.
Steve acts as our primary concierge – he can arrange special tours, hikes, concerts, day trips, spa visits or any other event you’d like to experience during your stay. He also oversees the inn’s maintenance, and is the person to see if something requires attention or repair in your room. And Steve makes a mean blueberry breakfast waffle, as you may discover some Sunday morning…

There are so many things to do during your Sedona visit. No matter what your interests are, you’re sure to find lots of choices here, and Terri's happy to make all your arrangements for you.
Take a guided jeep tour through spectacular terrain, then enjoy a secluded picnic on the banks of Oak Creek. Learn about sacred Native American places and traditions as you hike Sedona’s back country with a knowledgeable guide. Or take a horseback ride to a cowboy cook-out as the sun sets behind the hills. Or how about a gourmet picnic on the rim of the Grand Canyon with your own personal guide?
There are one-day floating trips that pass between magnificent soaring cliffs in Glen Canyon – or for some really serious adventure travel, you can experience 35 miles of rapids on a one-day whitewater rafting trip on the Colorado River. Back on dry land, you can ride the rails tracing the historic round trip between Clarkdale and Perkinsville, or travel by steam engine to the Grand Canyon on a vintage locomotive.
Get up early and watch the sunrise as you soar with the eagles in a hot air balloon over breathtaking red rock vistas, followed by a champagne picnic. Or forget the scenery for awhile and devote yourself instead to a luxurious day of spa treatments. There are so many options, these are just a few.   Housekeepers, Esperanza, Sylvia and Moré
In addition to caring for your room each day, Esperanza, Sylvia and Moré can be found in the kitchen early in the mornings, hand squeezing the fresh orange juice for breakfast. On days when there are gourmet Mexican breakfast specialties on the breakfast menu, you’ll also find them making fresh tortillas by hand from a press brought specially from Mexico. They also oversee the daunting job of laundering and pressing all those 400 thread count sheets (often with Lynda and Connie pitching in). See either of them if you have special laundry requests, or other preferences concerning the care of your room.

Houseman, Martin
Martin is the inn’s groundskeeper, making sure the outdoor living spaces around the inn stay in impeccable condition. He also serves breakfast and sets and clears your table. See him for any special breakfast requests, or if you’d like a fire in the outdoor hearth.
