There are so many things to do during your Sedona visit. No matter what your interests are, you’re sure to find lots of choices here, and we’re happy to make all your arrangements for you.
Take a guided jeep tour through spectacular terrain, then enjoy a secluded picnic on the banks of Oak Creek. Learn about sacred Native American places and traditions as you hike Sedona’s back country with a knowledgeable guide. Or take a horseback ride to a cowboy cook-out as the sun sets behind the hills. Or how about a gourmet picnic on the rim of the Grand Canyon with your own personal guide?
There are one-day floating trips that pass between magnificent soaring cliffs in Glen Canyon – or for some really serious adventure travel, you can experience 35 miles of rapids on a one-day whitewater rafting trip on the Colorado River. Back on dry land, you can ride the rails tracing the historic round trip between Clarkdale and Perkinsville, or travel by steam engine to the Grand Canyon on a vintage locomotive.
Get up early and watch the sunrise as you soar with the eagles in a hot air balloon over breathtaking red rock vistas, followed by a champagne picnic. Or forget the scenery for awhile and devote yourself instead to a luxurious day of spa treatments. There are so many options, these are just a few. Let us make all the arrangements for your stay with us here in Sedona. Contact the inn for more details.

Some of us feel that no excursion is complete without a delicious picnic lunch along for the trip. If you concur, see our chef Jeffrey and ask him to pack a custom picnic for your travels.
There are so many pleasurable ways to explore Sedona and the surrounding countryside while staying at El Portal. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re here to relax and see the sights within walking distance, or take a rugged trek through scenic rock canyons.
• By special arrangement with Los Abrigados resort* just across Portal Lane, El Portal guests have full use of Los Abrigados Spa and pool facility. This sprawling resort complex has several fine restaurants and a charming walking path along scenic Oak Creek.
*Los Abrigados has a no pets policy so please do not walk your dog on their property.
• Stroll the beautiful tree-lined avenues at Tlaquepaque, situated just beyond Los Abrigados. Shop in the dozens of stores and galleries, and sample the foods from several restaurants located here.
• Just next door to us is the Hummingbird House, an historic landmark built in 1926 and now a lovely gift shop.
• For pure relaxation, El Portal offers the finest in-room massages. A heavenly one hour massage is $100.00. It’s the perfect way to wind down after a day of shopping or hiking. Just ask any of the staff for details.
• For the adventurer, a trip to the backcountry is a must; we recommend Jeep tours with Sun Country Adventures. In most cases they will pick you up from any hotel in Sedona and drop you off right at El Portal. 1.877.783.6000
• Ask Steve about the different helicopter rides and trips that can be arranged. There are many choices for day trips to the Grand Canyon and the lower Colorado River that can easily be done in one day.
• In the mood for Nature on a Grand scale? El Portal is less than two hours from the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Take route 89a through the painted desert to Cameron, then left on 64 west to Grand Canyon village. Complete the loop by taking Hwy 180 back toward Flagstaff. If you start your trip after breakfast you can be back by 4:00pm, missing all the usual traffic.
• For a real treat, take a ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad. This four hour round trip is a wonderful way to see the Verde river canyon and all its wildlife… ask Steve or Jim to help book this trip for you.
All of us at El Portal are dedicated to making your stay in Sedona a memorable experience so ask us anything & we’ll do our best to help.
Thanks, and enjoy your day!
