Suite #4: The Arts and Crafts:
A serene and comfortable guest suite furnished in the popular Arts and Crafts style. The circular entry foyer leads into the distinctive main room, which is constructed with the only vega and latilla ceiling at El Portal. Cut flagstone floors and a corner beehive fireplace add to the handcrafted ambience of this space. Quarter sawn oak period furniture lends its timeless appeal. The king-sized bed is dressed with handmade appliquéd linens by Brunetti Textiles, reminiscent of designs by Rennie Mackintosh and others. French doors lead to a generous private courtyard. The bath offers a hot air whirlpool tub and separate shower, with stained glass accents. The window view from the tub overlooks the private garden courtyard. Pet friendly for medium to large dogs.
Suite #5 The Flat Rock Hickory
This extraordinary space feels like a suite of several rooms. The unusual vaulted ceilings and flagstone floors serve as a dramatic backdrop for rustic hickory furnishings and vintage Western coverings on the king-sized bed. The step-down sitting room features a twin-sized built-in daybed that can accommodate an extra guest. The bed faces a glass door, which opens onto a charming semicircular patio and spacious private courtyard. The bath features a high vaulted wood beam ceiling, a freestanding pedestal whirlpool tub with corner windows overlooking garden views, and a variety of slate tile and mosaic detail on the separate shower and throughout. This is a pet friendly room.
Suite #6 The Hile
This lighthearted suite is decorated in the Early California/Monterey style with furnishings created by artist and renowned furniture designer Warren Hile. The rustic and distinctive room features a river rock fireplace with plastered adobe hearth and banco, which wraps around a large and airy bay window and door with private entry garden court beyond. The king-sized bed is dressed in charming vintage cowboy themes, echoed in the bedside lamps and artwork. The bath features a shower with adobe surround, stained glass accents and a whirlpool claw-foot tub. This suite, situated by itself at the far corner of the inn is extremely private, and is one of our pet friendly rooms.
Suite #7 The Grand Canyon
This spacious room is a work of dramatic natural beauty. A vaulted log beam and rafter ceiling joins a full-length river rock fireplace, an ideal spot for a cozy interlude in leather chairs before the fire. A deep alcove with an inset stained glass window cradles the comfortable king-sized bed. The random flagstone floor runs throughout the space, which now includes a queen-sized sleeper sofa that will accomodate two extra guests. Enjoy breathtaking views from the private patio. The luxurious bathroom offers a separate shower, soaking tub, stained glass accents and double sinks.
Suite #9 The Rim View
One of our largest suites, this second story room offers a generous corner of bay windows with lovely views of the distant Rim through Oak Creek area treetops. This room features a unique king-sized juniper bed tucked into a cozy alcove, as well as a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the spacious sitting area, which can accommodate extra guests. The rustic exposed beam ceilings and handsome oak floors make this a comfortable and appealing living space. The bath features a hot air whirlpool tub, stained glass accents and separate shower with copper tile work.
Suite #10 The Greene and Green
A singularly appealing suite, decorated with reproduction furnishings in the style of the famed Greene brothers, noted architects of the Craftsman style. A unique plaster domed entry alcove opens onto this serene second story room, which features a balcony overlooking the inn’s central courtyard and beautiful views of the mountains beyond. Handsome oak floors and open-beamed cathedral ceilings frame the welcoming king-sized bed. Leather library chairs and a queen-sized sleeper sofa, perfect for extra guests, flank the opposite walls. Maxfield Parrish artwork and vintage lamps complete the timeless design. The bath features a long vanity with double sinks, a hot air whirlpool tub and separate tiled shower.

Enter the plaster-domed entry alcove and this strikingly handsome room has the feel of ages past, with walls of exposed adobe brick and rich oak floors. The king-sized bed and other reproduction Arts & Crafts furnishings are lovingly handmade of quarter sawn oak by California furniture maker Ramon Ramirez. An inviting leather queen-sized sleeper sofa can accommodate extra guests. This room’s second story location includes a balcony overlooking the inn’s central courtyard and beautiful views of the mountains beyond. The bath features a hot air whirlpool tub, separate shower and double sinks.
