“Awesome Place!!!”

Reviewed June 7, 2012

This arts and crafts style luxury inn is one of the best we’ve ever experienced. 18″ thick adobe walls, incredible courtyard with juniper fires every night…wonderful place…Steve was a great host. If you’re only visiting Sedona once in your life (which would be a shame), check this place out. (Dan M, Peoria IL)

“Outstanding inn”

Reviewed June 9, 2012

I have never seen an inn (or hotel) so well designed and built. The owner clearly lavished a great deal of money and love on the place, and had a terrific architect. The fit and finish of all materials is wonderful. It’s a pleasure just to walk through the place. And it is so quiet and private! We were in the dining room for breakfast and a groundskeeper was using a leaf blower just on the other side of the window and it was just barely audible. The rooms seemed to be completely soundproofed. It was blissful. Our room had a cute balcony with French doors, which opened to birds chirping and morning sunlight.

Breakfast is not included in the room rate, but is available in the dining room for a reasonable cost. The El Portal omelet is highly recommended. As is the hotel! (Steve7P, MA)

“Rustic Luxury”

Reviewed June 11, 2012

It was a beautiful Sunday when Linda and myself showed up to El Portal. We were greeted by beautiful patios, birds chirping and flowers blooming. The grounds of this quaint desert oasis were immaculate, no detail spared. If you are into a modern day rustic, upscale boutique hotel in the beautiful Sedona desert El Portal is perfect for you. We felt so at home, it seemed as if we’d never leave. Unfortunately the trip was just for one night and we had to pack our bags the next morning, but while the visited lasted the hotel was used for it’s full potential, pictures and memories forever. If I have any request for a beautiful majestic hotel in a powerful place like Sedona I wouldn’t recommend anything else but El Portal. Thank you Steve and Connie (Mike D, Waukesha, WI)

“The perfect place for a special gathering.”

Reviewed June 11, 2012

You can read many reviews on this site about all the wonderful qualities of El Portal. Every positive comment is well deserved; El Portal is a charming, comfortable, attractive and hospitable place to stay.

In addition to these qualities, El Portal is a lovely site to consider for a family event or gathering. Our family just completed a three day reunion during which we rented the entire place. It was absolutely delightful in every way. The rooms pleased their occupants. Having the place to ourselves gave our group a home and central gathering point. This was especially true in the evenings when we sat around a fire in the courtyard and talked, shared stories and laughed together. I cannot imagine a better place for us to gather for our reunion. Steve, Terri, Connie and all the others at El Portal looked after our every need. All our guests left with smiles on their faces. (Richard E, Lincoln, NE)

My only regret is that since I have a home in Sedona I was unable to lodge at El Portal myself!

“Wonderful!”

The El Portal is a first rate luxury inn with friendly staff and excellent accommodations. Everything was extremely clean and fresh. Each of it’s twelve rooms is unique and special. The owner, Steve, is on site during the day and available to guests. It is clear that he and his staff want to provide guests, and their pets, with the best possible experiences. Our golden retriever (and we) loved everything about the inn. It is adjacent to the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, which is also pet friendly. There are a variety of galleries and dining options at the Village, and a great restaurant in the inn for a gourmet breakfast in Sedona. The inn’s courtyard is a welcoming, quiet, and a beautiful place for morning coffee, breakfast, or evening conversation. We enjoyed the Inn’s afternoon cheese, crackers, and goodies while we sipped our own wine. You need to experience El Portal to really appreciate just how special it is. The only thing we didn’t like was having to leave. (Michael H, Lake Forest, CA)
