El Portal is the perfect place if you appreciate beautiful southwestern/arts & crafts architecture and a warm friendly atmosphere. The owner was on hand to assist us in planning our activities in Sedona, i.e. Grand Canyon, good hiking trails in Sedona, jeep tours and whatever else we wanted to do. We wanted to make the most of our time, there, and we did, thanks to his assistance. Read more by Carol M Mystic, CT.

“Great Experience” (Reviewed October 2, 2012)

Our first visit to Sedona and this was a perfect location and the accommodations were terrific. Staff was friendly, and the outdoor common area with the fire pit, was terrific. Were able to meet some of the other guests and enjoyed friendly conversation. We were in the grand canyon, unit 7. Decor was beautiful. Continue review by Moira S. Lisle, Il.

“Beautiful Hideaway” (Reviewed October 17, 2012)

We recently visited Sedona, AZ, and were riveted by the peacefulness and beauty of the area. To top it all off, the icing on the cake… was El Portal Sedona Hotel. What a treasure. The owners, Steve and Connie, treated us like old friends; like family. The Hotel was beautiful, quaint, and peaceful. There was a community campfire every night in the courtyard, which added to the charm. We sampled a homemade breakfast every morning… with the best salsa I have ever eaten in my life. Complete review by KronyTown, Charleston, SC.

“An Oasis – w/shopping center next door” (Reviewed October 17, 2012)

Quiet, luxurious and relaxing, this very small hotel is the perfect Sedona get-a-way location. It is actually more of a Hacienda than a hotel. Even though this property is located in a complex with another large hotel and a shopping center, the walls and vegetation surrounding it make you feel that you are out in the country. The rooms huge – suites, really – and well appointed. Each unit is unique, with different shape, size, furnishings and theme. We stayed in #6, The Hile, which had its own little private patio. The staff are friendly and personable. The breakfast is to die for. More review by weberpoint, Sammamish, WA.

“Unique Property” (Reviewed October 25, 2012)

Spent 3 nights October 2012. Unique and tastefully done property. More “B&B” than “Hotel”. Central location within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Set back off the road and a tad tricky to find. Very private with an inner courtyard. Nightly fire that guests congregate around. Honor bar off dining room with wine/beer/soda. Helpful and friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Read entire review by daveone, Erie, Pa.

“One of a kind “inn” experience.” (Reviewed October 28, 2012)

El Portal is labeled a small “luxury boutique hotel” – it’s kind of a cross between an inn and a B&B. The authentic Arts and Craft furnishings and art add an extra layer of enjoyment to the beautiful hacienda architecture. Late afternoon snacks with wine and a full service breakfast in front of the fire are high points… Finish review by Ann L, Woodstock, GA.
